Accessibility statement
Neuro Ally is built for neurodiverse adults and the people supporting them. Accessibility is the design constraint, not an afterthought.
Our commitment
Everyone deserves equal access to the platform. We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AAA — the highest level of conformance — and we test the site continually as we change it.
Accessibility features
- Three colour schemes (light, dimmed, dark) — pick whichever is kindest to your eyes from the accessibility bar at the bottom of any page.
- Three font options — Atkinson Hyperlegible (default), serif, or OpenDyslexic.
- Adjustable text size — increase, decrease, or reset from the same toolbar.
- Keyboard navigation — every feature is reachable with the keyboard alone.
- Screen reader support — semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels.
- Clear, predictable structure — the wizard breaks setup into one question per step; long pages collapse into accordions so you choose what to read.
- Plain British English with minimal jargon.
- No autoplay, no flashing, no animations that can't be paused.
- Respects prefers-reduced-motion — if your OS asks for reduced motion, we honour it.
- AAA contrast on every theme — 7:1 for body text, 4.5:1 for large text.
- Responsive at any zoom level up to 400%.
Conformance status
We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AAA. We test using:
- Automated tools — Lighthouse, axe, WAVE.
- Manual testing — keyboard navigation, screen readers, visual inspection.
- Real-world feedback — autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent members trying things and telling us what's awkward.
Compatibility
- Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Mobile devices running iOS and Android.
- Zoom up to 400% without loss of content or function.
We don't support Internet Explorer.
Known limitations
- External links lead to other sites that may not match our standards.
- Member-uploaded content (profile photos, bios, listing descriptions) is moderated for compliance with our terms but isn't individually checked for accessibility.
- This is an early-stage prototype. Edges will exist; please report them.
